Trip Reports
Middle Raccoon River - P28 to Cowless Access
I could have spent another couple hours on the Middle Raccoon but with such a pleasant paddle behind me why complain.
Ledges State Park - Pea’s Creek walk
This hike was an unexpected surprise. We managed to stumble into a solitary creek walk on a crowded fall day at Ledges State Park.
Lake Red Rock, IA - Wallashuch to Elk Rock
Lake Red rock is truly unique amongst the other Iowa reservoirs. My next trip to Red Rock will be a longer scenic paddle.
Parks
Ledges State Park Unique terrain & access to water are what attract people to the Ledges.
Mariposa Recreation Area Mariposa Recreation Area is a small but charming out-of-the-way county park.
Ashton-Wildwood County Park Ashton Observatory provides a unique experience.
Trails
Ankeny to Slater Trail Scenic trail includes wildlife, corn fields, nostalgic farm buildings and even buffalo.
Volksweg Trail - Fifield to Howell Station This section of the trail is not for the leisurely Sunday pedaler.
